Why Farmers Choose Metal Buildings Metal buildings have become the standard for agricultural construction for one simple reason: they deliver more usable space per dollar than any other building method. A 40x60 metal barn costs a fraction of what a comparable wood-frame structure would run, and it requires virtually no maintenance over its 20-plus year life span. Equipment and Machinery Storage Protecting expensive farm equipment from the elements is one of the most common uses for metal buildings in agriculture.
